Why I needed a product like this?
As a result of mere laziness and not removing my makeup properly for years, my skin started to produce oily glands and clogged pores. My pores were small, so a group of small pimples and ugly blackheads grouped together around my nose, chin and cheek. It was bad enough for me to take notice and take action. I started asking friends how they stopped their acne breakouts and how they found solutions to their skin challenges.
In my group of friends that I had asked, more than half mentioned the Proactive brand. They didn’t necessarily recommend it but it spiraled my quest on finding the right complete acne solution kit. I tried Proactive, and it dried me out so harshly that my skin did not even have the natural oily layer needed for protection and rejuvenation. No amount of moisturizer would last me through an entire day. So I put those bottles under my skin and reopened the investigation.
Through various forums and a skincare group on Facebook, I found out about Exposed. They offer an entire line of products that all contain acne controlling medicine and natural extracts. While they were offering a solution to my skin nightmare they had an awesome promotion going. I poured out the remaining products left in my Proactive bottles and sent them in to redeem the offer for a $25 credit in exchange for old/unused bottles. It was a perfect beginning to a perfect journey with the Exposed Basic Acne Treatment kit.
About the product/brand
In most, if not all Exposed products you will find that they contain the right combination and dose of active ingredients and nutrients that are needed to remedy skin back to healthy and glowing condition. While there are unnatural ingredients, the natural ingredients such as tea tree oil, sage and green tea extract work powerfully together to provide to give you clearer and healthier skin.
Formulation/ Main Ingredients/ Packaging
The kit comes with all of your basic necessities for a long-term nightly application. That includes the facial cleanser, the clearing tonic, an acne and clear poring serum, along with microfiber cloth.
The peroxide in the acne treatment serums is 3.5% and there is 1% in the tonic and clear pore serum. So the active ingredients working in conjunction with the inactive ingredients produce results without consuming your skin. Your skin needs some oil barriers and many products strip ALL oil off, but the cleanser in the kit does not. As a matter of fact, it leaves some of oils your skin needs to rejuvenate and restore itself back to a healthy balance. You can’t see these oils, but they are needed for the healing process.
The cleanser has a slight citrus-ey smell. It contains salicylic acid, which removes the upper layer of the skin and decreases inflammation, preventing potential future breakouts. When it works with the pro-vitamin B in the cleanser, it works to feed your skin with what it needs to to regulate its oil production. Basically, your skin has been given a new chance in life. The cleanser also contains sage extracts, which work to detoxify your skin.
The clearing tonic was the answer and solution to ridding my nose of those pesky blackheads. It too contains a strong active ingredient- salicylic acid, which penetrates deep into your pores. At the same token, the glycolic acid, which hazel and green tea extract work together to counteract the salicylic.
You get about 1.75 oz. out of the acne treatment serum and clear pore serum. Both are lightweight in formula but serve different purposes. The benzoyl peroxide in the acne treatment attack blemishes and whiteheads as the pore serum attacks blackheads while re-balancing your skin. The clear pore serum contains glycerin, which prevents the premature loss of moisture so it doesn’t dry you out.
Lastly you get a microdermabrasion, AKA microfiber cloth perfect for exfoliating dead skin cells, make up and excess oils, while it preps your skin for better product absorption.
Uses and effects
I used the kit nightly with one application religiously for 5 months. Then after I started to see results, I reduced the application to every other night. It did wonders in reducing the inflammation that had come with some of my acne, and it also got rid of my blackheads and whiteheads. Also, I noticed that I didn’t have any new scars, which was surprising, and the old ones were slowly diminishing away.
After you have washed your face with the cleanser, and used the tonic, keep in mind you need to let the serums both work its way into your skin, so it needs to stay on your face, do not wash it off. If you feel like you skin looks oily do not worry, it works by penetrating into your skin rather than just a topical effect.
What I Like about Exposed Skin Care’s Basic Acne Treatment Kit
I also liked that you got nutritional advice to take into consideration when using the kit. It’s common knowledge to drink tons of water, but when we use skin care products we tend to forget the core value in drinking water. So yes you might get a bit dry, but you are offered tips and advice to counteract the downside effects.
What I Don’t I Like about Exposed Skin Care’s Basic Acne Treatment Kit
The 4 oz. cleanser alone gave me clearer, healthier skin, healing it calmly without redness or irritation. However, it is not completely odor-less as you will get whiffs of citrus. I didn’t like it but others might not mind.
My Personal Experience
If you want results use the face wash, clearing tonic, acne treatment, and clear pore daily once.
Watch out for what you are eating as what you put on your face it as important as what you put into your body. Avoid touching your face at all costs! Change your pillowcase often, substitute artificial sweets for natural avoid sweets, such as fruit; and limit your dairy intake.
There is no age limitation/boundary with the kit. To experiment repercussions I had my 13 year old daughter start out with the cleanser to see if it work for her or against her but it has been about one week and so far she is as happy as I am with my results.
My Final Verdict
Overall, the Exposed has worked for me in finding a long-term solution and at home maintenance kit. I get great use of the products, I am able to share it with my daughter and we compliment each other as our skin gets better together.
